Vital Man City recently talked up the potential of Carlos Borges and said he could be Raheem Sterling’s long-term replacement at Manchester City, but he isn’t the only talented young forward in the academy.

Oscar Bobb is highly rated too and could have a bright future if he realises his potential. Bernardo Silva still dreams of joining Barcelona and may have a decision to make next summer, but Bobb won’t be a bad option in his stead.

The 19-year-old joined City from Valerenga in 2019 and has scored 15 goals with three assists from 41 games for the U18s, scored one goal with three assists from seven games for the U19s and scored eight goals with 15 assists from 38 games for the U21s.

Bobb has made the first-team matchday squad on one occasion but has spent most of his time in the academy. This season, the Norwegian U19 has scored one goal with six assists from seven games at youth level, so he’s picking up from where he left off in 2021/22.

Bobb can play as an attacking-midfielder, central midfielder, left-winger and centre-forward, so he does share a lot of similarities with Silva. His preferred role is as a CAM and he’s regularly among the goals like the Portuguese international, so the future is bright.

Guardiola handed Bobb a long-term deal in February as reward for his form in the reserve team, so clearly he feels he’ll progress to the first-team very soon.
